The accessibility of mobile applications means making the application usable for people with disabilities. This requirement came into effect on June 23, 2021.
The requirement is the same for all: “All websites and mobile applications of public bodies must be accessible.”
For mobile applications [and websites], the minimum required accessibility level is AA. This is based on 4 key principles.
Being perceptible, being usable, being understandable, and being robust
The 4 main principles
P | Perceivable
Content must be accessible to users via sight, hearing, and/or touch.
O | Operable
The solution must be keyboard accessible, navigable, and compatible with different input methods.
U | Understandable
Content must be readable and predictable, with clear labels and instructions.
R | Robust
The solution must work with a variety of assistive technologies, browsers, and devices.
